Hello Crawford’s Rock and a big welcome back to the blog! It's always a privilege to engage with you and soak up your expertise. As the connoisseurs of seaweed, your insights are invaluable to us. We recently had the pleasure of sampling your remarkable Irish Sea Moss supplement infused with Ginger and Turmeric, and we’re buzzing with excitement to dive into some questions with you!
Let’s kick things off! For those who might be scratching their heads, what exactly is this magical Irish Sea Moss we keep hearing about?

Irish Seamoss or Carrageen was to be found in every posh house in Ireland 150 years ago. They used this to make a moss pudding like a blancmange but some aristocrats would have boiled the moss, added brandy and used it as a cure to upper respiratory conditions. Seamoss in Ireland has made a revival due to its dense nutrients and mineral contents . It is currently very trendy the world over!
That's so interesting, and it's obvious that this trend has gained attention for some valid reasons! Can you give us a quick rundown of the journey of creating this trending product, starting with the initial spark of an idea, then from sea to supplement?
From Sea to Supplement the Irish Seamoss was originally put out in a Gel Form. We added Ginger and Turmeric for additional healing properties but some people found this hard to take , not so much the taste but the texture being a little like baby food. In fact our Seamoss Gel has won Silver at The Health and Wellbeing Awards 2024 for Immunity and Gut Health.
We then decided to do the mix in dried powder then place in a Vegan Capsule
First of all, congratulations! And also thank you for developing a vegan capsule; it really simplifies the process of taking it.
You decided to throw ginger and turmeric into the mix, what was the thought process there? And what benefits do they bring to the table?
We like to add Turmeric for pain and Ginger to add digestion, Seamoss is a great prebiotic so is great for Gut Health.
What a fantastic boost they provide! So, who’s the ideal candidate for this supplement? Is it for everyone?

All of our Seamoss is 100% Irish but we also do another variation Seamoss ,Bladderwrack and Kelp for those on blood thinners as Turmeric is a contraindication of this, so we pretty much cater for all groups and ages. The young sports /gym enthusiasts can use Seamoss for muscle recovery or like they would electrolytes, the mummies who need that extra energy can use it. Seamoss is also great for menopause and for our older folk it gives extra vitamins and minerals.
It really is advantageous for all! Now, when would you say is the best time to take it? Morning, noon, or night?
We suggest taking the Seamoss in the morning with water. You will feel the benefits after 14 days continuously taking.
Noted! The speedy results are an excellent bonus, just as they are with all your products…You’ve got a treasure trove of amazing offerings, but if you could only choose three to use for a month, which ones would make the cut and why?
Out of my range of products if I was to choose my top 3 it would be Seamoss Capsules with Ginger n Turmeric for general health and wellbeing, Seaweed Salt, winner of 3 stars at the Great Taste Awards a big iodine salt and very very flavoursome and lastly my Dillisk Sprinkle also winner of a Vegan Choice Award. Why? Because in Ancient Ireland the order of the day was Women Children Potatoes Seaweed. Also, I follow the Medical Medium and he cites Irish Dulse as a deal breaker in removing toxins from the body.
Great picks; and they all provide such remarkable advantages for health!
We also noticed a seaweed tour on your website, spill the beans! What’s the scoop on that?
We do an Experience called Tide to Table Taste Tour where we take groups out wild seaweed harvesting, cold sea swimming then setup and cook with sustainably caught fish from the local area which holds the largest fishing fleet in Northern Ireland. We have been very fortunate this year as we filmed with Tour de Fred as seen on ITV1 and ITVX.

That sounds incredible! A big congratulations on your endeavor! As our CEO has said, this remarkable supplement comes in at under 50p a day! Which is incredible. How do you maintain such affordability while delivering such a premium product? Don't get us wrong...we are so grateful!
We keep our prices affordable for our customers, we are a small batch Artisan company with Kelp rights on the shore historically these were used for agricultural purposes. We do not currently outsource and make all our own products in a small purpose built unit.
That's truly fantastic!..Just before we conclude our chat, where can our readers snag this budget-friendly supplement along with your other celebrated products?
You can buy our products online at www.crawfordsrockseaweed.co.uk currently we have our Seamoss Capsules on offer for 3 month supply in Travel packs, but we sell Seamoss also in Gel Form or Wholeleaf Sunkissed to make at home yourself.
Incredible! Finally, what advice would you offer to aspiring entrepreneurs who are motivated by the success of your brand?
Currently most small producers are finding the economic climate challenging but for me I have side stepped down the Health and Wellbeing Market which is set to grow to 9 trillion by 2028. This trend will continue to rise in the coming years as people look to alternative ways to support their lifestyle. In Fact we say lifestyle planning not care planning as the way forward.
Yes, and Crawford's Rock is a superb choice for this purpose!
